Homework

For children in Reception and Key Stage 1, developing a partnership with parents and involving them actively in children's learning is the key purpose of our homework activities. As children get older, homework provides an opportunity for them to develop the skills of independent learning and takes over as the main purpose for homework.

The most important homework your child can do is to read regularly. In addition, homework can help to consolidate learning undertaken in school, provide opportunities for research and project-based work and help to develop good organisational and study habits, ready for the transition to secondary school.

Our expectations for homework develop progressively through the key stages. Please see the table below for details of the homework your child can expect in their year group.
