Year 2 Class Page

We are Peace Class - our class value is PEACE.

Year 2 - your last year in the infants is a fun-filled, busy year!

There is lots to learn about in Year 2, from the Great Fire of London to how to design and make your very own chocolate bar!  In Year 2 we learn through six different themes:

It's a Small World - in this theme we will learn all about the different continents around the world.

Fire! Fire! - in this theme we will learn all about the Great Fire of London.

There’s No Place Like Home - in this theme we will learn all about how homes have changed over time.

London Calling - in this theme we will learn all about our capital city, London and we will visit the London Eye!

Animal Kingdom - in this theme we will learn all about different animals from around the world.

Chocolate - in this theme we will learn all about where chocolate comes from nad we will visit The Roald Dahl Museum!

Throughout the year we will read and enjoy lots of different books. We have a key class text linked to each of the themes we are studying. It is very helpful if you have your own copy of the book to bring into school to read along, but we can provide you with a copy if you don't have one. These are the books we will be reading and enjoying as part our English lessons:

  • Here We Are: Notes from Planet Earth - Oliver Jeffers, Flat Stanley - Jeff Brown
  • The Owl who was Afraid of the Dark - Jill Tomlinson
  • The Three Little Wolves and the Big Bad Pig - Eugene Trivizas, The True Story of the Three Little Pigs - Jon Scieszka
  • Claude in the City - Alex T. Smith
  • The Butterfly Lion - Michael Morpurgo
  • Charlie and the Chocolate Factory  - Roald Dahl
