Cooking

'Cooking is all about people. Food is maybe the only universal thing that really has the power to bring everyone together. No matter what culture, everywhere around the world, people get together to eat' - Guy Fieri

It is our school vision to ‘Celebrate learning together in faith, hope and love’ (1 Corinthians 13:13). When cooking, children learn about where their food comes from, sustainability and the benefits of eating local produce. They will develop an understanding that food production has an environmental impact and that our choices can make a difference. The children cook recipes from different countries and share the food together, enabling them to learn about, and appreciate, different cultures.

Cooking Subject Progression Framework

We feel that teaching children about food and cooking is crucial so that they grow up knowing how to make healthy and affordable food choices. We want them to develop a healthy enjoyment of food and enjoy cooking for themselves and others. We want them to know where their food comes from and how this can have an impact on the environment.
