History

"The more you know about the past, the better prepared you are for the future." – Theodore Roosevelt

Faith, hope and love are very important to our teaching of history at Bishop Perrin School, helping children to appreciate the stories of the past and understand their relevance to today. Faith in history means believing that by learning about the people, events, and cultures of the past, we can better understand the world we live in and make wise choices for the future. Hope encourages students to see history as a source of inspiration, learning from past achievements, as well as mistakes, to imagine a better and more just future for everyone. Love in history is about developing respect for different cultures, experiences and perspectives.  Through our values of faith, hope and love we strive to build a world with more understanding.

At Bishop Perrin School, we are inspired to learn about the history of people and places through the ages in our locality, our country and the wider world. We learn about the process of change and how historical events continue to influence our lives today. We learn about important and influential people in history and the contribution they have made to society. We learn to ask perceptive questions, think critically, weigh evidence, sift arguments, and develop perspective and judgement.
