Music

“Music can change the world.” - Ludwig van Beethoven

At Bishop Perrin Primary School, the values of faith, hope, and love are woven into the music lessons, helping students discover the joy of music on many levels. Faith in music means believing that every child has the ability to learn and express themselves through song, rhythm and composing.  We believe that music can bring out the best in everyone. Hope encourages children to see music as a way to bring people together through learning about different genres of music and through learning about the music of different countries. Love in music is about creating harmony: in sound and when we sing together, play together and perform together.  Music is not just about notes and rhythms, but also about connection and expression.

Music Subject Progression Framework

Through music, learners have further rich opportunities to be creative and to experience inspiration and enjoyment. Performing and creating music are prominent activities for all learners. Through these activities they develop their vocal and instrumental skills, explore sounds and musical concepts, and use their imagination and skills to create musical ideas and compositions. They can further develop their understanding and capacity to enjoy music by making a contribution to our internal school performances and our attendance at singing festivals.
